Sometimes I’m On Fire And Sometimes I’m Burnt Out.... Navigating The Ebb And Flow Of Life

Updated: Feb 10, 2020

Let me start by saying I love my life! I really truly do. I have this joy in my heart that really carries me through the day. But the thing is, sometimes I am truly burnt out.

Sometimes I need a day or two of disconnect to be alone with me.

I have found that burn out is completely normal. Somewhere someone decided not feeling inspired every single day of your life meant something was wrong with you. Like you needed to cope or fix or change these downtimes into something different. But the reality is, downtimes are normal.

No one, I don’t care who you are or what you do. No one can be on all the time. We all have an ebb and a flow that creates our life. The less judgment we have about it the more space we have to create through it.

I have been an entrepreneur for most of my life. I used to feel instantly like something was wrong with me if I had an off day or I felt like I just wanted to rest. Like I wasn’t allowed to just be for any amount of time. I had to live with this nagging sense of self-defeat if I didn’t feel like doing anything.

Now I understand that if I honor that downtime, it’s shorter and my uptime is more productive.

Like when I’m on fire, I’m seriously on fire. I will have periods where I hardly sleep. I’m up all hours of the night creating and flowing within my business. And then there are days I sleep till noon and I’m napping by two.

And you know what?

Life goes on. I keep moving. Things flow stronger and I’m on fire again. I’m writing, creating, recording, and changing. I'm clearing and shifting and learning and growing.

And if tomorrow I feel like napping at noon I won’t judge myself or my life. I know that just because I’m burnt out right this minute doesn’t mean I can’t be on fire tomorrow. Stop judging the way you are creating your life. Allow yourself to flow in the creation of who you are. Embrace all the time you have here. There is nothing wrong with resting when you need rest. You are allowed to be both the flame and the smoke.
